Merry Brennan

Merry weaves many passions together in her work as an award-winning digital artist, writer, communications specialist and educator.

·   Pictures. A long-time photographer, Merry’s leap from darkroom to digital – or what she calls Photoplay –  expanded her creative exploration of the faces, spaces, colors and connections around her. Her realistic and abstract images have been singled out for honors in numerous juried shows, art calendars and other publications. Her popular Earthways Art Cards can be found online and in retail outlets.

·   Words. Her fiction, essays and non-fiction have appeared in dozens of print, broadcast and online media in the U.S. and abroad. Her environmental column, Earthways, ran in a New Jersey daily and was reprinted across the country. She is also author of the well-received middle-grade biographical novel, Peace Pilgrim: walking her talk against hate.

·   Public Affairs. Merry has worked with diverse Fortune 100 corporations and non-profit organizations, providing a range of expertise, such as internal/external communications strategy, publications management, special event coordination, crisis management and community relations.

·   Teaching. She's enjoyed several gratifying posts, including Adjunct Writing Professor and Outdoor Naturalist-Educator. She's developed and presented many writing workshops, as well as programs promoting tolerance and conflict resolution. She's also an advisory partner to Curious Young Writers, which trains high schoolers to use the power of story to bring complex bioscience to life.

·   Community Connections. Merry served two terms on the Borough Council in her town before stepping down to focus on other commitments. She was instrumental in creating a variety of successful community programs and remains a strong local advocate for the arts and environment.

Merry has a BA in Communications-Journalism, a master’s degree in Public Administration and a lifelong thirst for learning. She's always up for a good hike, sail or paddle; never turns down time with family; and looks forward to full moon meditations. She lives on the Jersey Shore with her musician husband, Tom. They have three terrific kids, Ciarán, Aislínn and Seán.
